Dickson, TN - Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Steve Baggett will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

Betty Jo Bates Owen, age 92, of Dickson, TN died peacefully January 30, 2026, at her home.
She was born in Perry County into a large family with 10 children and was the daughter of the late Carlos Simpson (Dutch) Bates and Mary Lou Ashton Bates Horner. Betty was a graduate of Perry County High School, class of 1951. For some 25 years she worked with Acme Boot and later worked with Masonite Door for 5 years. Betty was the widow of the late Billy Joe Owen who died in 2004. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Hilda Duff, Barbara Hinson, Larry Bates and Gary Bates.
Betty was an immaculate homemaker. She loved to clean and keep things tidy. Also, in her homemaking she was an exceptional cook. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She had a loving, kind and gentle spirit about her. She could captivate you very easily with her beautiful smile.
Betty was a faithful and longtime member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by her two daughters, Desiree Bradford and Angelita (Angie) Rye, her two brothers, Bobby Bates (Elaine) and Terry Gene (Gayla) Bates, her sisters, Joyce Logan, Teresa Baucum (John) and Linda Bratton (John); also surviving are her five grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
