Dickson, Tennessee - Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from the Walnut Street Church of Christ. Chip Haslam and Steve Baggett will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday evening, February 9th at Taylor Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church beginning at 12 Noon until time of service. Burial will be private in the Dickson Union Cemetery.
Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Senior Living Ministries or to the Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Ms. Gwynn Blalock Kerns, of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away on February 7, 2026.
Ms. Kerns was born on January 8, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Paul and Robbie (White) Blalock. She was raised in Murray, Kentucky, where she grew up on her father and uncle's dairy farm alongside her beloved sister and best friend Paula Hill, her charming and hilarious younger brother Robert Lon, and a very close-knit group of cousins who shared a lifelong bond filled with a deep love and lots of laughter.
Ms. Kerns attended and graduated from Murray Training School before continuing her education at David Lipscomb. She later earned her master's degree from Austin Peay State University and went on to complete a second master's degree from Vanderbilt University, reflecting her lifelong dedication to learning and education. Ms. Kerns devoted more than 30 years of her life to serving students, finishing her career at her beloved Dickson County High School as a guidance counselor. She was passionate about her work and took great pride in supporting, encouraging, and advocating for the countless students whose lives she touched throughout her career.
Ms. Kerns was a devoted mother and grandmother who was deeply loved by her three children, Bret (Becky Bishop), Shannon Seals (Joey), and Lesley Nabors (Tommy). She is survived by her grandchildren, Hillary Kerns Deaton (Blake), Abbe Kerns Garner (Ryan), Elizabeth Seals Norman (Jacob), Wright Nabors, Jonathan Seals, Brett Nabors, Jacob Seals (Taylor), and Sophie Nabors, as well as her great-grandchildren, Cole Deaton and Riley Rai Garner. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by her extended family, including Amy Mills(Brian) and Cammie Blalock, daughters of her late brother Robert Lon; Robyn Hill Lampley (John) and David Hill (Rhemy), children of her sister Paula Hill; her brother-in-law Ken; sister-in-law Carol; niece Kelly Kerns Duran(Val), as well as several great nieces, nephews, and cousins all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Ms. Kerns will be remembered for her faith, humor, intelligence, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she shaped with encouragement and devotion.
Ms. Kerns was a longtime active and faithful member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Blake Deaton, Ryan Garner, Jacob Norman, Wright Nabors, Jonathan Seals, Brett Nabors, Jacob Seals, David Hill, John Lampley, and Val Duran.
