Jamey Ellen Weems McIntire Obituary

Burns, TN - Jamey Ellen Weems McIntire of Burns, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away in Dickson, on January 24, 2026, at the age of 79. In keeping with her wishes, Jamey will be cremated, and there will be no public visitation or service. Her life will be honored privately by her closest relatives and friends. Her ashes will be interred in the McIntire family plot at Dickson Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shriners' Hospital for Children or the Humane Society of Dickson County.

Born in Chicago, IL, on September 26, 1946, and raised in Dickson, Jamey was the daughter of the late James Archibald and Joene Elisabeth Robbley Weems. She was a graduate of Dickson High School (1964), the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1968), and West Chester (PA) University (1987). After completing her education at UT, she married Wayne McIntire of Dickson. They had two children, William Wayne McIntire, Jr. (Bill) and Amanda Day McIntire (Mandy). She was predeceased by her son Bill in May 2023, and her brother Shipp Robbley Weems in Nov. 2025. Survivors include her husband, daughter, two grandchildren [Elisabeth Paige Blanchard (Jake) and Thomas Brooks Foreman], and a sister, Lindsay Pat (Eegie) Weems.

After raising her young family, Jamey's professional career was spent teaching special education and adult education students in Dickson County, where she had a profound impact on their lives. She challenged them to never give up, no matter how difficult the task, and she helped them reach their full potential. As one student wrote: "Your life has touched so very many. Thank you for touching mine."

Jamey's proud family was steeped in our nation's history dating back before the American Revolution. She was a member at the Burns Church of Christ. Jamey would say to her family and friends that "it is better by far that you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad".
