Charlotte, TN - Jimmy Lee Duke, age 85, was born March 31, 1940, in Charlotte, Tennessee, a place that shaped the foundations of his life and character. He passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at NHC in Dickson, TN. Jimmy was a proud graduate of Charlotte High School, Class of 1956, Jimmy pursued higher education for two years at Austin Peay State University. His commitment to service was evident in his six years with the Air National Guard, where he served his country with honor and dedication.

In 1965, he married Bonnie Batey and they had a son, Jimmy Wade Duke in 1967. Together they built a life rich in love and community service. Jimmy's passions extended beyond his family; he was a lifelong member of Greenwood Methodist Church, where he contributed not only as a parishioner but as a cornerstone of faith for many.

His unwavering commitment to his community was demonstrated through various roles, including his membership in the Harpeth Ridge Fire Department and his service on the Dickson County Coop Board of Directors. He also held the esteemed title of Past President of the Dickson County Farm Bureau. He was deeply involved in agriculture, dedicating his life to farming, where he raised tobacco, hay, and cattle. His love for the land was matched only by his passion for gardening, which he pursued not just for personal enjoyment but to share the fruits of his labor with friends and neighbors.

Perhaps what brought Jimmy the greatest joy was his role as a grandfather. He found immense fulfillment in spending time with his grandchildren, cherishing every moment he had to nurture and guide them. As we remember Jimmy, we celebrate a life characterized by generosity, hard work, and a deep-seated love for family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and service that will continue to inspire all who have the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be 4-8 Tuesday and 11 - 1 Wednesday at the Spann Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Jimmy Lee Duke will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Heard, and Rev. Joyce Lighari officiating. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery

Survived by wife, Bonnie Batey Duke of Charlotte, TN; son, Jimmy Wade Duke (Traci) of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Connor and Ashley Duke of Knoxville, TN; Ty Angelino, who was like a grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by parents, William Thomas and Emma Orgain Duke, brother, Billy Duke.
